People who are shut away in perpetual darkness often report seeing light forms and flashing colors that persist even when they close their eyes. This phenomenon is called prisoner’s cinema and has been cited by astronauts as a cause of restlessness while in space, due to increased radiation.
In Laika’s post-centrifuge, stressed, dazed, hazy dream state, she was similarly unable to fully rest due to her hypervigilance. It would seem she was being prepared for her trip to the heavens in more ways than one.
