“Feral instincts will aim to take their hold”
Fueled by the success of Sputnik I, the same engineers were under immense pressure to develop, construct, and launch the very first life-supporting, orbital spacecraft. Their political superiors and leaders of the Communist Party gave these men only a month to do the impossible.
The engineering challenges were enormous, but finding the creature they'd send to space was straightforward - they simply needed to look outside. The Soviets quickly captured a number of stray dogs. They selected one and named her Laika, immediately transforming her from an insignificant, yet free being, to a national scientific and political icon. The immediacy of launch meant there was little time for her proper care and humane testing, let alone guarantee of her return. Her capture sealed her fate and marked the beginning of the end of her story.

Survival on their own

Resilience has shown
Exploiting
No value to disown
Devoided
Liberation overthrown
Exploited

Expired
Aiming for a purchase in the gutter to erase
The choir is reluctant in their dissonant refrain
Feral instincts will aim to take their hold
Picking from the gutter to find life to fit their mold
Refuse to the cosmos
Refuge from the void
Paper over the cracks of a bankrupt generation
Oncoming rift to bury bones
Oncoming rift to break the mold
Paper over the cracks of a bankrupt generation
Bury the mold
This world pulls
A vicious authority
To maintain by separation
Through separation, hell takes hold
Aiming for a purchase in the gutter to erase
The choir is reluctant in their dissonant refrain
Aiming for the gutter to find life they can erase
The choir is reluctant in their dissonant refrain

I love the light and shade between Bryan's dirty and Emma's forlorn vocals. There are so many layers to this recording that are driven home through contrast. Plus the riffs are brilliant and get me moving. I can't stop listening to Thou and Emma in general lately. spaceman2250
What an impressive piece of black metal. This one-man hurricane is pure art. Sgah‘gahsowáh creates an haunting atmosphere. He puts so much soul in his music. Sælzer Bub
