about
“Gravity pulls towards the end / Soon to be observed”
“Engineers of the Human Soul'' was Joseph Stalin’s epithet for members of the Soviet press whom the state could use to engineer the general public’s preferences, feelings, and beliefs. Even though Khrushchev famously denounced Stalin in his “Secret Speech,” it is clear that his Communist Party still subscribed to the idea that public opinion was a powerful tool and needed to be carefully controlled.
When looking back at the suffering that Laika endured at the altar of progress, it’s hard to imagine that ordinary citizens would have supported such torture without being so deliberately engineered.
lyrics
Accords without arbitration
All processes forced
A rush of red capillaries
Hubris comes to prevail again
Sent into flight
Forced explorers born in orbit
Gravity pulls towards the end
Soon to be observed
False narratives spoken again
Both insignificant and essential
Forced explorers of the Earth
A ballast of perception looming
Exhaust persists without reservations
Hope lingering without a single spark
Sent to the expanse, a failed existence
False narratives, given solutions
Static circuit vows to promise
Masses deluded, hardened resolve
A pressure disputed, bury the captain
Pulled into the void

I love the light and shade between Bryan's dirty and Emma's forlorn vocals. There are so many layers to this recording that are driven home through contrast. Plus the riffs are brilliant and get me moving. I can't stop listening to Thou and Emma in general lately. spaceman2250

What an impressive piece of black metal. This one-man hurricane is pure art. Sgah‘gahsowáh creates an haunting atmosphere. He puts so much soul in his music. Sælzer Bub
