about
Laika’s life support capsule on Sputnik II was not designed with her comfort in mind. It was a cramped shell, in which she would be harnessed in-place, completely restricting her to either a sitting or lying position.
In order to help her become accustomed to what would ultimately be her coffin, Laika was kept in a series of smaller and smaller cages. This isolation and captivity lead to a heightening of the senses, while simultaneously weakening her frame to the point of near immobility.
lyrics
Drowned by memories of privilege
Jettisoned, forgotten
A life abridged
A vessel with no home
Is sent to the unknown
Signals relay the time to send away
A vessel with no home
Is sent to the unknown
A vessel with no home
Propelled to the unknown alone
Straining through the bottleneck
Current pushing contained by cosmic forces
Dauntless with a strong resolve
To trap a mortal still breathing in the aether
Straining through the bottleneck
Current pushing away
Binding thoughts and blending truth
A prelude of emptiness to come
The ancient awakening
The primal omens he’s come to fear
The premier always comes to collect
Ghastly sirens, empty calls
Succumbed in the vacuums jaws
Only fear escapes these walls
Falling ceilings, empty skies
Succumbed in the vacuums jaws
Only fear escapes these walls
Ghastly sirens, empty calls
Crushed in the vacuum’s jaws
No escape from endless nothing
Nothing
Nothing more
Crushed in the vacuum’s jaws for nothing

I love the light and shade between Bryan's dirty and Emma's forlorn vocals. There are so many layers to this recording that are driven home through contrast. Plus the riffs are brilliant and get me moving. I can't stop listening to Thou and Emma in general lately. spaceman2250
What an impressive piece of black metal. This one-man hurricane is pure art. Sgah‘gahsowáh creates an haunting atmosphere. He puts so much soul in his music. Sælzer Bub
